ECP to begin work on delimitations of constituencies on Jan 15

Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided on Wednesday to begin work on new delimitations of constituencies starting from January 15, 2018 while all four chief secretaries, National Registration and Database Authority (Nadra) chairman and statistics bureau secretary have been summoned on coming Friday.
A notification issued today by the commission states that the authorities would be instructed to provide details of the fresh census, manpower and maps to chalk out fresh delimitations.
Reportedly, the commission requires statistical details from all the provincial and district-level entities of the ECP.
The commission is reportedly required to function on emergency basis following the delay in approval of the constitutional amendment in this regard.
After approval of the amendment, it was reported that the commission would need at least five months for the purpose. It was further reported that the election commission would complete its work on delimitation of the constituencies in May 2018.
The commission would further need at least two months for the preparations of General Elections 2018 in the country.
The bill Bill regarding delimitation of constituencies was passed in the Senate on Tuesday.
