Sindh government reappoints Dr Asim as provincial Chairman HEC

Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has reappointed Dr Asim Hussain as Chairman of the Higher Education Commission on Sunday.
Sources said that Murad Ali Shah appointed Dr Asim Hussain as Chairman HEC by using his special powers. The sources said that the Sindh government has issued a notification in this regard.Whereas The Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA) announced to go on strike from January 30 across Sindh.
FAPUASA leaders were of the view that Dr Asim Hussain failed to activate HEC during his previous tenure. It is pertinent to mention here that Asim Hussain had been taken into custody on August 26, 2015, when he was presiding over HEC meeting.Dr Asim, a close aide to former president Asif Ali Zardari, was booked under charges of terrorism, corruption and providing financial aid to terrorists. The government put his name on ECL but the apex court allowed him go abroad on November 16, 2017.
