Nationalist icon Rasool Bux Palijo laid to rest in ancestral village

Veteran politician Rasool Bux Palijo was laid to rest in his ancestral village Mungar Khan Palijo in Jungshahi, District Thatta on Friday.
The constitutional lawyer breathed his last on June 7 at a private hospital in Karachi. Thousands gathered to offer the funeral prayers of the towering nationalist political icon. His coffin was carried by female and male workers of Awami Tehreek – the party he founded in 1970s.
During the burial procedure, workers of Sindhiyani Tehreek – a movement by Sindh’s woman to fight discriminatory laws in 1980s, paid tribute to Palijo by singing anthem eulogising outside the graveyard.
The funeral was attended by a large number of politicians, nationalist leaders, literary artists, lawyers, educationists and journalists. His last rites were offered by son Ayaz Latif Palijo, who is the general secretary of Grand Democratic Alliance.
